I don’t like talking about race-related subjects coz as we all know, it’s an extremely sensitive one.
But after reading this on Malaysiakini.com, I’m incensed, infuriated, and speechless (well, almost). Yes yes, I know this took place more than 6 months ago but I wasn’t following it then.
I believe these statements speak for themselves.
(I don’t understand how come it’s taking so long for any action to be taken against these people since the meeting was held last November. That’s like, more than SIX months ago! Oh, but then again, we all know know the outcome. NOTHING will happen.)
Umno is willing to risk lives and bathe in blood in defence of race and religion. Don’t play with fire. If they mess with our rights, we will mess with theirs.
~Hasnoor Sidang Hussein, UMNO delegate from Malacca~
Please don’t test the Malays; they know ‘amok’. We don’t want to reach that level. In the present situation, the Malays can still take it but efforts to enhance the Malays’ economy need to be intensified.
~Mohamed Rahmat, former Barisan Nasional and Umno secretary-general~
Err, first and foremost, aside from having Nationality : Malaysian in my passport and holding a MyKad, I’m trying to figure out what other rights I have. I can’t seem to question anything at all, even though I’m a lawful citizen, born and bred in this country that is seemingly becoming less and less my home, though it’s the only one I know.
And secondly, is that a THREAT to non-Malays? Hey, we’re not the ones who are sending our religious officials (not that we have any) to storm into restaurants and removing other peoople’s properties for no good reason.
So, now it’s ok for the Malays to make seditious and racist comments coz the rest of us are NOT to question their rights and privileges.
So tell me, what rights do we have?
(NOW I know what JN meant when he said he was pissed after watching the UMNO general assembly. The country should be so “glad” to know they’ve lost another talent to another country. Hooray for Malaysia!)
