**This is a work rant**
This organization is unbelievable.
Or rather, some people in this organization are unbelievable.
Just when I thought I’ve seen the crappiest/stupidest/most idiotic/[insert suitable adjective] thing that people within an organization could do, something else comes around and breaks the record.
Let me count the ways in this current place:
1. Agreeing to something and denying it later
Initially, The Big Boss (TBB) gave us x-2 months to complete Phase 1 of the project. It was a very very short timeline but he’s TBB ma, so have to do lor. Then, after some mat salleh guy came to visit and told him that the timeline is too short and unrealistic, he said ok, can extend the timeline. (You know how starry-eyed M’sians get when mat sallehs talk. Everything they say goes. But anyway, he gave us more time so that’s fine.) So we drew up a new, extended timeline, which is more realistic and allowed the team to at least, breathe a little, although it didn’t give them any free time at all. But at least we managed to reduce the concurrent activities that a stupid ex-consultant had assigned in the previous project plan.
Then today, there was quite a lot of drama in the senior management meeting with TBB. My Boss (MB) showed TBB the new, extended timeline and he started scolding her, in front of the other managers/GMs! MB got so pissed and fired him back, coz TBB was the one who agreed to allow for the extended timeline in the first place!
Conclusion : We still have to stick to the very very short timeline but I’m so glad that MB stood up to TBB.
2. Some of the managers/GMs are cowards/chickenshit
I don’t know what’s their problem but they are so scared of TBB. Even though all of them were present when TBB agreed to allow for the extended timeline, NONE of them spoke up to back up MB except for one person.
Even in the previous project, MB arranged for a forum between these people, their staff, and TBB so they could air their true feelings about the system, NONE of them spoke up even though they were suffering with the new system.
But in the absence of TBB, they all went and complain to MB.
A bit stupid right? You guys are the ones who are going to live and breathe the system after it goes live and yet you don’t dare to tell TBB that it’s not working i.e. it doesn’t make your work easier? Dumbasses.
3. Coming up with stupid excuses for not speaking up
This has got to be the lamest/stupidest excuse.
“Oh, you can say those things to TBB because you’re on contract.”
WTF?! What does it matter whether MB is on contract or not?? So if TBB told you to jump off the building, you’d jump coz you’re a permanent employee?! What kind of logic is that?! Dumbasses.
4. Puts Ebeneezer Scrooge to shame
Man, if you want to see how stingy a company can get, please join this one.
The 3 of us in the dept handling this project are on contract basis. Apparently, according to the AssGM, we’re too “expensive”.
Hallo??!!! I haven’t even started on the fact that I’m not even getting contract salary ok?! What I’m getting now is just barely what a normal, permanent employee (who also gets all full benefits) would get, minus the full benefits! And you want to come and tell me that I AM TOO EXPENSIVE???!!!
Hallo!!! I’m not the one driving a f**king Beemer ok?!
And I’m not the one who’s too chickenshit to do his own job to earn his pay but in reality, gets someone else to do his f**cking job!
If we’re too expensive, why hire us contractors in the first place?! Manage the bloody project yourself la! So smart to talk, no balls to do the work.
And coz they’re so stingy, they’re not going to hire more people to assist in the project.
You know what they want? They want experienced people but they don’t want to pay for these people. MB is ok with taking in the less experienced staff for lesser salary but the “HEAD” refuses coz she says then have to hand-hold these freshies.
Duh!! You want experienced people but you don’t want to pay! What do you expect to get??!! You want people to work for free???!! Go to Timbuktoo also cannot find la! Use your plain common sense, for gawd’s sake! Anyone with half a brain can tell you that if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Dumbasses.
5. Perceiving that our dept has nothing to do
ok… if I really didn’t have any work or I’m slacking, it’s fair for you to say things like this.
BUT if I’m doing my work and producing my deliverables when I’m supposed to, WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO SAY I’VE GOT NOTHING TO DO??!!!
Hey, I’m not the one who goes on leave or EL whenever I wish, without notifying my team, ok??? Unlike this particular “HEAD”.
And she dares to say that WE have nothing to do??!!! Dumbass.
I’m sure all of the above scenarios are very very common in many organizations.
BUT…
I get really really really annoyed and upset when people are being unfair, coz I just cannot cannot stand being treated unfairly! And without any basis whatsoever!
It’s that perfectionist side of me la. I’m always serious about the things I do, and when I take on a job, I make sure I do it well. It’s very difficult (almost impossible) for me to maintain that detachment from the things I do coz my motto is, “If you wanna do something, do it good.” That’s why I always get affected when people say stupid things like “You go no work to do, is it?” and undermine my work ethics. I’m an honest person, I don’t slack off for the fun of it, I will do my work as I’m paid to do and make sure it’s done with quality… so don’t you DARE say otherwise without any evidence!!
But then again, I really should get used to it coz people are dumbasses anyway. And regardless of which organization one is attached with, none will practice employee appreciation in the real sense.
BUT that doesn’t mean I can’t complain about it.
BAH!! DUMBASSES!!!
