It didn’t mean anything!

August13

In SATC-The Movie, there was this part where Miranda and Steve had a ‘dry’ period in their sex lives. So they were in the kitchen, and Steve suddenly blurts out that he slept with someone. Obviously, Miranda gets absolutely pissed and Steve is all apologetic and tried to placate Miranda by saying that it was just one time and it didn’t mean anything.

ok, I don’t get it. I’ve seen a lot of movies and also heard some stories where men who cheat say the same thing “It didn’t mean anything!” but I still don’t get it. Do men actually think that it makes their partners feel better when they say “it didn’t mean anything” when they have cheated?

I know I know… studies have shown that men have sex on their minds like, 90% of the time (I’m pulling this figure from the air because I can’t remember the exact figure except that it is a significant percentage) but I thought perhaps men should be given more credit in controlling their urges but I guess time and again, men themselves have proven that they can’t control their urges.

In my personal opinion, I feel that this declaration of “It didn’t mean anything” is equally as bad as its opposite because it seems that these men are so driven by their need for physical gratification that they can just go and do it with any female without any emotional attachment. That whenever they feel that they are not getting enough (by their standards) from their partners, they would go out and get it thru other means.

Well, I’m female (and we all know that the female brain works differently from the male) and I just cannot imagine getting it on with someone whom I don’t “like” just for the physical gratification.

Of course, Miranda forgave Steve after a period of separation and counseling. It’s a movie, after all.
