Anticipated Serendipity

Is this really true or there’s something up someone’s sleeve?

May12

OMG, is change really happening here??? :-O

Or is this some cruel trick before “someone” pulls a drastic move???

I have no confidence left in the so-called govt. that I’m questioning everything!

Sheeeshh…

Let’s wait and see.

What a Disgrace!

May7

Oh.my.gawd! Malunya!

These people have no shame, is it? Gawd!

Seriously, they are so not fit to be leaders!

Not Walking the Talk?

April29

Hmmm… why do our leaders seem to prefer to go overseas for medical treatment rather than be treated in their own country?

And why do they send their kids to study (and some even to live) overseas when they are here, extolling the virtues of our public colleges and universities? I mean, c’mon! These people are public servants! Shouldn’t they lead by example and send their kids to the Malaysian institutes of higher learning?

Tsk tsk tsk… this is a classic case of not walking the talk.

*SNORTS*

Some People are really Plain Stupid

April21

Oh.my.gawd!

This is so appallingly stupid that I’m speechless. I don’t know if I should be really angry, horrifyingly shocked, or try not to laugh my head off. Maybe all of the above.

Check this out :

Q: So you are denying that state funds were used for the maid?

A: I checked and the answer is ‘no’.

So, he is NOT denying that state funds were used for the maid? :-O

But this part takes the cake :

Q: You say you are a simple man but people would disagree because you fly first class and stay at expensive presidential suites?

A: You must remember when I was the (PNSB) chairman. I have my entitlement. If I were to reduce my entitlement to what an officer gets then what is the officer going to reduce to? I am the chairman. There is the deputy chairman, board of directors, government officers going along. If I fly business class (not first class), then what happens to my state secretary? He will complain. If I am travelling alone it is easier. But I am travelling with a group of people and if I downgrade myself – it’s a problem for the others. But I never ask (for the pricey presidential suites or first class flights). Whatever they provide, I go along with. I just tell them to give me a full itinerary on these trips. I want a full programme with investors and companies.

OMG, the nerve!! You mean just because one is a chairman, one cannot travel at the same level as one’s staff???!!! Is this person living in the stone ages or what?!

*totally speechless*

But really, thanks to mainstream newspapers like The Star. Please continue to publish stories like this so everyone will know how ‘smart’ our so-called leaders are and how much they care about spending taxpayers’ hard-earned money.

Such dum dums

April9

Some of our traffic cops seem to have no common sense at all.

Common sense would tell one that it is not only stupid but dangerous to pull over cars right after bend in the road because the stationary vehicles are more often than not, not visible to other cars coming in the same direction (i.e. obstruction of view by buildings/trees/shrubbery/etc).

Especially when the bend leads to a highway when drivers, in their regular and not-so-bright haste, rarely slow down.

It’s just an accident waiting to happen.

Dum dums.

Royally screwed

February26

We are being royally screwed by our dear govt.

So last year they announced that in 2009, we have a choice to reduce employee’s EPF contribution from 11% to 8% so that the people can have more cash to spend.

Fine.

But on the other hand, they quietly went and increased individual income tax rates at the same time!! So now, not only do those who’ve reduced their EPF have less savings, they have less money to spend due to higher income taxes! And the taxable income bracket has been reduced!!

WTF?!! Is that how THEY are helping the rakyat?!

No double standard? Right.

February11

So these morons get to threaten other people with holding demos and the police just use their discretion and give them a warning but others get fired with tear gas and water cannons?

Gee. That is so fair.

Another case of stupidity

January22

Another stupid ruling from the ever brilliant municipal councils, from The Star.

Dog owners in Nilai must now get neighbour’s permission

SEREMBAN: Dog owners in Nilai must now get written permission from their neighbours to keep the animals in their homes.

This is the first time such a ruling has been introduced in Negri Sembilan following recent amendments to the Dog Licensing Bylaws 2008. The municipal council issues annual dog licences at RM20 each.

Council president Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Latif said the ruling covers dogs which were three months old and above.

“For those who want to rear more than two dogs, their premises must be at least 1,000 sq metres.

“You are allowed to keep more than four dogs if the area is larger than 1,000 sq metres,” he said.

The affected areas are Nilai, Rasah, Ampangan, Mantin, Lenggeng, Pantai, Rantau, Labu and Senawang.

Abd Halim said the owners were duty-bound to ensure that their pets were not a nuisance to their neighbours such as the animals defecating in public places.

“The pets cannot be allowed to roam freely outside their compound,” he said, adding that officers would take away unlicensed pets.

Those caught without a licence could be fined up to RM1,000 or jailed not more than six months, or both.

The Seremban Municipal Council issues dog licences for RM10 each but has not asked owners to get their neighbours’ permission. Applicants are required to attach a vaccination card for their pets.

The state Veterinary Services Department issues licences for RM5 for those living in other areas.

Resident Melissa Wong asked why was there a need to get her neighbour’s permission to keep a dog.

“My neighbour’s cats defecate in my compound almost every day. Why doesn’t the council make it a requirement for cat owners to get their neighbour’s consent?” she asked.

P. Manimaran, who lives in Rasah Kemayan, said he may have to give up his dog because he was not on talking terms with his neighbour.

Those with queries can call the Nilai Municipal Council at 06-798 9099/9077.

Excerpt from the SPCA Friday Flash newsletter:

On Thursday, the Majlis Perbandaran Nilai issued a ruling that all dog owners in Nilai must get their neighbours consent to keep the animals in their homes. The affected areas are Nilai, Rasah, Ampangan, Mantin, Lenggeng, Pantai, Rantau, Labu and Senawang. The move has caused a huge outcry among local dog owners, who claim it is unfair to impose such a ruling for dog owners - even more so when irresponsible cat owners get away scot-free.

In 2003 Johor made it compulsory for dog owners to get permission from their neighbours, and in 2005 Maj Bandaraya Shah Alam ruled the same.

“Municipals need to educate pet owners to be responsible and pick up after their pets. This applies to owners of cats and dogs. Of course, dogs should never be allowed to roam freely outside the compound, they must always be accompanied by the owner and be leashed. Perhaps it would be a good idea for municipals to fine pet owners who did not clean up after their pets, or allowed their pets to be a nuisance or disturbance to the neighbours or neighbourhood,” says SPCA Chairperson Christine Chin.

“This is certainly not fair for dog owners who already do not get along with their neighbours, and also those whose neighbours don’t like dogs for any reason.  We urge the authorities to invest in educating pet owners, monitoring them and taking action against them if their pets are causing any disturbances, or being a nuisance to the neighbours – instead of issuing such a blanket ruling,” she continues.

~~~~~
So yeah, if I have a neighbor who (1) hates my guts, or (2) I totally detest for some reason, I’m so ready to go ask him/her for permission to keep a dog and s/he would be so willing to allow me to do so.
And I’m not even going to go into the other more obvious case of religious differences.
Right.
Lazy buggers. Take away the responsibility from themselves and put it on members of the public.
So brilliant.
SPCA Selangor and DVS Investigate Dog-Catching Abuse Allegations
November21
Full article here.
Excerpt from the article :
“… another pet owner lodged a report with SPCA, alleging that Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) dog-catchers had trespassed into her home and caught her dog, dragging it out from underneath the main gate. Attempts were made to locate the dog which was not taken to the PAWS Animal Shelter, but held by the MBSA and put to sleep three days later. The owner and an SPCA Inspector arrived during the destruction process, and were literally minutes too late to save the dog. The distraught owner made a police report immediately after leaving the pound.”
Oh.my.gawd.
Not only did they STEAL someone’s dog, they actually KILLED the dog!!!
WTF??!!!
Too incensed to write sanely.
Please pass this article to your dog-owning friends and inform them to be vigilant about their dogs. Apparently, these thieves are paid up to RM45 for each dog they steal.
They will never learn
From Mkini:
“Terengganu government is planning to log two forest reserves which is home to the critically endangered Sumatran rhinoceros and endangered Malayan tiger.
According to the DEIA (Detailed Environmental Impact Assessment), the site of the catchment area has already experienced changes of between 25 and 30 percent and new logging tracks have already been constructed,” said WWF-Malaysia.
…the logging will also affect the elephant population in the forests, where about one-third will be forced into nearby plantations, creating more human-elephant conflict.”
They don’t seem to understand the concept of forest reserves.
Let me help them a bit. From dictionary.com :
forest reserve : (noun) – an area of forest set aside and preserved by the government as a wilderness, national park, or the like.
I thought they did good when they granted Chagar Hutang to UMT to continue their turtle research and rehabilitation work.
But conservation takes much more than just a one-time effort. Only in Malaysia, it seems to me, that gazetted forest reserves can be logged for whatever purposes.
What a joke!
