The case for neutering/spaying pets

March26

I would really like to know how to effectively present the case for neutering/spaying your pet to prevent overpopulation of homeless animals to someone who has a pre-conceived notion that neutering/spaying is tampering with the nature of the animal and should not be condoned.

How?

New generation

March23

I thank my HK guests for reminding me that we are the new generation and we live our lives for ourselves, not for society nor even our familial expectations.

Of course, the basic tenets of family still hold but we’re not bound in totality by it anymore these days.

Phew.

And I am so grateful to them for not highlighting/pestering me why I don’t eat meat or asking me the ever dreaded “When are you having kids” question.

I like my HK guests :D

Not now

March16

It’s not like I totally abhor children but I can’t deal with having one at the moment.

This is what I replied to a friend who said “Why not have babies? I know I would be happy to have one now.” (This came from a guy 3 years my junior, mind you).

Why not babies? Coz :
1. Babies are expensive.
2. Babies are too much work.
3. Babies cramp my lifestyle.
4. Babies just suck the energy out of you.
5. Babies are noisy and need to be fed every few hours and crap shortly after, resulting in the need for multiple diaper changes throughout the day.

Recently met up with a couple of friends who have children of their own and listening to their problems with breastfeeding and all that is enough to turn me off having my own.

I seriously salute working mothers who have the energy to go to work and come home to take care of their kids. Not to mention the discipline to eat well to supplement their milk production and to express their milk at work.

People say motherhood is the pinnacle of a woman’s life (is it?) but I am not getting it.

Sounds like more trouble than it’s worth. Doesn’t help when society implies that it is a woman’s DUTY to bear babies. How come society doesn’t say that it is men’s DUTY to remain faithful to their partners and not be led by what’s in their pants?

Printer model : For my daughter

March13

This family (father + mother + daughter) walked into the computer store ahead of me when I went in to get my printer cartridge. The father strides ahead and looks around.

Sales guy : How can I help you, sir?
Father : I’m looking for a printer *in a loud voice*
Sales guy : What printer are you looking for?
Father : I’m looking for a printer for my daughter *still in a loud voice*
Sales guy : We don’t have a printer called “for my daughter”.

I was trying hard not to snicker when I paid for my printer cartridge and left the store. Who knew that some of our sales people actually have a sense of humor. Hehe.

I like…

… hanging out with kids (or people younger than me) and animals because they don’t ask me silly and annoying questions that I don’t wish to answer.

:D

Air purifier

January22

Am still trying to locate the shop that I’d passed by, selling air purifiers. Still on my quest to get a really good one, to try to help with the Hubs sinuses.

Another reason to detest pale floor tiles — everything that gets on it is so visible e.g. dust, cat fur, tiny bits of paper from Misty’s scratching board.

Ah well, adjustments are inevitable. Have resorted to vacuuming daily in the mornings. But I’d have to do it at night when I start work else the neighbors might send me a love letter in my mailbox (happened to someone else for another noise problem). Hah, with the construction going on and the 2 competing mosques nearby, we have no lack of noise pollution anyway.

On to my quest for the perfect air purifier…

My blog

November16

I love my blog.

It’s so depressing and morbid.

I haven’t seen a happy post here in eons. *pats self on back for the good work*

:D

Looking good

October1

I was relating to MichC, WP and FC about the other day when I saw this man filling gas in his car, in his underwear.

They all lamented that men (especially Malaysian men) totally do not know how to “take care” of themselves i.e. don’t dress appropriately, don’t keep in shape, etc.

MichC was drooling about her recent trip to Melbourne where she said the men were totally hot! FC agreed, his friends there fall in that category too. But he also said that as soon as they get hitched, they totally let themselves go. WP quipped, “That’s coz they don’t need to impress the girl anymore ma!” FC remarked, “But then when they get divorced, they suddenly look awesome again.” *me rolling my eyes*

So it’s quite motivating to see how this man decided to get into shape for his wedding (I don’t know the couple nor do I know his motivation of losing the weight… I just happened to stumble upon their website) but I think it’s inspiring when you see the difference in the pictures. I do wish that more men would take just a bit more effort to look reasonably good.

:)

*Man, now I wanna go Maldives after seeing those pics!

Mixed up.

Not a good thing.

Mindless entertainment :-)

September1

I’ve been keeping up with Eonline of late.

Gives me a few minutes of mindless entertainment and celebrity gossip each day :)

Actually, it started after MJ’s passing, where I logged on to check on the latest news of his death and investigations.

But now, it serves as my daily dose of celebrity news.

Some not-so-useful things that I’ve discovered :

  • Josh Duhamel (Fergie’s hub) is quite hot :P
  • Gerri Halliwell‘s got some abs!
  • Kevin Federline‘s gotten humongous! And he used to be a dancer?! :-O
  • Imaging how gorgeous Gisele‘s kids are gonna look! :P
  • Danica McKellar aka Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years (oh no, I’m THAT old!) is a mathematician!
  • Dakota Fanning‘s in Eclipse?! I remember her as a wee kid in I Am Sam
  • Adriana Lima‘s a virgin?! I still think she’s the hottest model around :)
  • Tom Cruise is either really short or Katie Holmes is damn tall!

Haha… I said they were mindless entertainment :P
