“Women aged 30 and above who are not married are losers. What do you think?”

What do I think??? Hell, NO!!

What’s wrong with being a woman aged 30 and above and not married? In fact, what’s wrong with not getting married at all? If some women choose NOT to get married, well, kudos to them! Some women are very happy being unmarried and for that they are labeled as losers?! What rubbish!

As one of the DJs said, who has the right to put an age cap on love anyway?

Unfortunately, that’s how society works and it is society that determines such ridiculous notions. You go to any functions, especially weddings and people will start the whole “When are you getting married” thing. Sheesh. I have a friend (you know who you are!) who intentially asks me “Bila kahwin” everytime he sees me. I give everyone my favorite answer : “I dunno”.

Men have it better in this aspect. They can get married at any age, even 40 or above and people won’t think they are losers for waiting that long. They will say “Oh, he was busy focusing on building his career ma.”

Hmph.

Awww… how sweet is that?!

Came across this recently and was dumbfounded.

Seriously, men like this exist! *shakes head in disbelief*

So I trimmed my hair, cut a bit of fringe, highlighted it, and changed the parting.

And I’ve gotten comments that I look thinner (haha!) and that I look better.

*beams*

• He will call when he says he’ll call… and he will call regardless how busy he is.
• He will do the work in pursuing you because, for the most part, men like the challenge of not knowing whether they can catch you and feel rewarded when they do.
• He will show, as soon as reasonably possible, that he means business (in the marriage dept).

Mind you, these things came from the male perspective so there must be some truth in them.

I like the polls that they have at the end of each chapter too.

Basically, in my opinion (of what I’ve read so far), the content of the book is to help  women be aware of the common behaviors that men show in various situations and the excuses that women give to justify these actions. And it tells women to STOP doing that!

Why? Because we are worth more than that and we deserve to land that guy who worships the ground we walk on (my own words, haha!)

ok la… not so dramatic but it tells us to value ourselves more and to stop staying with jerks and making excuses for them.

The differences between the male and female psyche is quite an interesting topic. Me and the girlfriends could talk about this topic for hours and not get bored, as well as be astounded by the things that men are capable of.

One thing I can say for sure about women (most of them anyway) is that they can’t separate sex from emotions. Which men can do very well. Apparently, “guys don’t mind messing up a friendship if it could lead to sex.” — quote from the book that I mention below. I guess this confirms one of my theories (more like, fact of life) but unfortunately, it doesn’t bring me any closer to understanding the reason for it.

One thing that I learned from an interesting book that my girlfriends have been raving about, which I decided to read for the fun of it to see what was all the hype about, is that “men are apparently cowards and they would rather wait till the end of time than tell you bad news.”

Hmm…

I’m not sure this bodes well for myself nor people around me.

This was summed up during a recent powwow with a girlfriend, who doesn’t share the same interest but understands exactly what animals mean to me.

She likens it to what her religion means to her and after I thought about it, it does describe exactly how I feel.

I was lamenting on the fact that it is so difficult for non like-minded people to understand this and she suggested using this analogy to explain. But sometimes, I am just so tired of explaining WHY animals mean so much to me. Have you ever had to try so hard explaining to others why you eat/live/breathe, say, football or music or photography?

SamT’s hubby was so cute at their tea ceremony. After the customary bully-the-groom activities and while he was waiting to enter the bridal room, he was visibly nervous (his hands were shaking and he was taking deep breaths!) and he was telling us (the chi muis i.e. bride’s posse) that he’s been waiting almost TEN years for this day!! And he even quoted the date of either the time they got together or the date he first proposed — which was about 2 or more years ago and she told him to wait first at that time, hehe.

Cynical as I am about things like ‘true love’ and ‘happily ever after’, it still gives me the warm, fuzzy feeling when I see couples who are so obviously in love with each other, especially the guy who visibly shows it.

Is it as elusive as I think it is?

A friend believes in the idea of true love and soulmates, which is kind of interesting coming from a guy.

Another friend says there’s no such thing as a ‘perfect’ relationship/marriage so don’t go deluding oneself. This coming from a woman.

So what do I believe in? Need to do some soul-searching.
